The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Karnataka government to send a notice to respond to the bail plea of actress Ragini, who was arrested in a drug case.
The Central Crime Branch police are investigating drug case in Bangalore. Some have been arrested for allegedly using drugs and being in contact with a gang that sells drug.
Name Lists
Kannada film director Indrajith Langesh had complained that young actors and actresses in Kannada cinema were using drugs. He also handed over a list of names of actors and actresses who uses drugs to the Central Crime Branch police.
Agrahara Jail
Actress Ragini Dwivedi was arrested on September 4 by the Central Crime Division police. Actress Sanjana Kalrani and 14 people were arrested, including their friends. They are lodged in the Agrahara Jail in Bangalore.
Charge Sheet
Enforcement officials are investigating them after it was revealed that they have illegally purchased properties as well. In this case, it was said that the charge sheet would be filed by the end of last month.
Not Filed
An official said it would include detailed descriptions of drug trafficking and contacts of those arrested. However, the charge sheet has not yet been filed. Meanwhile, their bail pleas have been rejected.
Petition in the Supreme Court
Actress Ragini’s bail has been denied several times and a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on her behalf. The hearing on the petition came before Justice Nariman, Naveen Sinha and Joseph, today. After the trial, judges ordered the Karnataka government to send a reply notice.
